Tender description : Tenders Are Invited for Aap Desira+ Océan Indien . The overall objective of this call for proposals is to contribute to accelerating the agroecological transition for the benefit of family farms in the Western Indian Ocean. This acceleration must be achieved by scaling up agroecological innovations and proven, strengthened support mechanisms for innovators, as well as by developing an institutional environment conducive to the transition. The specific objectives are as follows: - To strengthen, adapt to a diversity of contexts, and ensure the sustainability of transition and support mechanisms for agroecological innovation; - To strengthen the recognition and support given to agroecology by all actors in the value chains – from producers to consumers – by highlighting its economic performance as well as its environmental and social benefits. - To engage public decision-makers at the regional, national, and local levels in a structured multi-stakeholder dialogue and promote the integration of agroecology into their policies and strategies. Applicants are expected to propose results consistent with these various objectives and for their proposals to explicitly contribute to at least one of the three specific objectives mentioned above. Further details are provided in paragraph 2.1.2. Project proposals must cover one or more of the following four priority themes: • Plant health • Soil and water management • Enhancement of ecosystem services • Enhancement of agroecological product value chains. These themes may be addressed through: - national projects: projects targeting one of the following territories: the Republic of Madagascar, the Union of the Comoros, or the Republic of Mauritius; - regional projects: projects targeting at least three countries, including the Republic of Madagascar, the Union of the Comoros, the Republic of Mauritius, and the Republic of Seychelles, and involving the outermost regions (Réunion and/or Mayotte – see §2.1.1 for partner mobilization). Additional and mandatory themes include: • Advocacy for the recognition of agroecology as an ecologically, economically, and socially effective form of agriculture; • A territorial approach to the management and enhancement of local resources and knowledge; • Strengthening producer-consumer links.
