Tenders Are Invited for Competition of Innovative Ideas for the Design of Learning Spaces in Latin America and the Caribbean
This competition, promoted by CAF - the development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean - and the Pan American Federation of Architects' Associations, seeks to promote innovative architectural proposals in line with the state of the art in the field of education, from an approach focused on student learning.
The Ideas Competition for Innovation in Learning Environments is open to architects from Latin American and Caribbean countries . The competition focuses on public schools at the preschool, primary, and secondary levels, encompassing all variations and models that may be developed in the participating countries. The goal is to develop innovative proposals in the field of learning space design, which will allow for a rethinking of educational environments at a regional level.
A fundamental requirement of this competition is to work on the idea of ??a situated, culturally rooted, environmentally sustainable project that incorporates gender, diversity, and inclusion perspectives, as well as criteria of replicability and scalability. All ideas and proposals must consider design criteria appropriate to the environmental, economic, socio-cultural, pedagogical, technological, and institutional contexts, among others, striving to provide original solutions that can be adapted and transferred to similar contexts.
This importance of “a geocultural point of view” implies that each professional, or team of professionals, must develop a proposal in a defined geographical location, according to the categories established by the bases, providing the geographical, environmental, cultural, socioeconomic and urban/rural characterization of that specific context, and making explicit the components of the project susceptible to replication (principles, systems, criteria, devices and/or strategies), as well as the minimum conditions for its implementation in other territories.
